March and April

It has been awhile! I hadn't planned on taking a break from blogging, but that is what happened. I don't know that I was that much busier than the rest of this year. Maybe I was just worn out mentally. Anyway, Here is a glimpse of our past two months. We also had Bible School and I will do another post about that and the journey it took us on.

One day we took a little get away from the demands of life and spent the day relaxing and fishing at Han's Cottage.
Kelsey and some of her friends from the village on their way to the village for Bible Study. Our Friday afternoons haven't become a huge Bible Study but we enjoy interacting with whoever shows up.
Little Rich Love continues to brighten our days when her mom is helping wash. She was pouting about something and hid under a piece of fabric one day.
We took two girls (and their family members) to a hospital a distance away to see about getting their legs/feet operated on. There is a team of doctors coming the end of May. Hopefully they can both get the help they need. The drive was beautiful!

Our little boy, that isn't so little anymore, turned 6!
Kenny had a birthday as well.
We enjoyed having Jay and Miriam here this winter. One of the last Sunday's they were here we took them and Heidi Wenger to the dam. It was very dry but this bamboo raft was at the bottom of the dam. They could just so go down stream a bit and turn around to come back.
This is the same place I lost my phone and I was explaining to Miriam and Heidi how it happened. When we saw how low the water was, Kenny decided to go look for it. On the picture above, it dropped in about right at the top left corner. Now all those rocks were exposed. Kenny walked down there and found my phone case, but no phone. There was a man sitting at the top of the dam and he had a phone laying beside him. My phone had a sticker on the back, so I knew it was mine. Kenny asked him if we could remove the SIM and the memory card. He was happy to let us do that! It took a bit for me to realize what had just happened! We were there on the same day, at the same time, as the man who found my phone, months after I dropped it! That is not a co-incidence! My SIM had been shut off but my memory card still worked and I was happy to have all the things back I had stored on there!
The field behind our house was cleared like I have never seem it cleared before! After cutting everything, they remove the big sticks for making charcoal and then burn the leaves and brush. We drove into our village on this evening and saw that there was a fire at the top of the hill. Close to our house. We knew it was most likely the farmer burning the field off but we weren't quite prepared for the sight that met our eyes when we got in sight of our house. Smoke and ashes billowed over the roof and the gave the appearance of the back side of our house being on fire! Thankfully everything was under control, but we did sit outside for awhile because the smoke was too thick inside to be in there. No mosquitoes bothered us though!
Two precious little ones from our village.
One Saturday we were invited to a wedding. We didn't have very good directions and as we drove around Elmina, we came across this beautiful view. I am so thankful for the beauty of the ocean nearby!
The happy bride and groom, both are teachers at Living Hope Academy.
A dump truck that turned a bit too sharp one night. They don't really do guardrails at culverts here.
My new favorite thing to do with children after Bible Study is draw pictures. Using dirt as a drawing pad and a stick for a pencil makes it a nice challenge!
This charcoal pit will soon be put together and covered with leaves and dirt.  Remember I said they collect all the bigger sticks? I'm hoping the wind doesn't blow our way while this thing smolders. It has a very unique smell!
