A New Term

The class room is ready!

This is just a quick prayer request for Kenny, his fellow teachers, Albert, Ernest, Anthony, and Jarell, and his new students. Their first day is tomorrow (Tuesday). It is like a blank canvas. New faces. New personalities. New possibilities. It is going to be challenging. Going from four that knew a lot about mechanics to eight new ones that vary greatly in their knowledge. One has worked for a mechanic a little already. Most have never used the tools they will now use every day. Most have never drove a car or moto.
  I hope to take some pictures this week yet of the class. So hopefully I get them on here as well!

They each get a pair of shoes as well. The orange striped shirts hanging up are the teacher's shirts for class. And they have grey overalls.

Volta Region

 We visited Volta Region in May. Volta region is in Eastern Ghana, next to Togo. We could see mountain ridges that were in Togo quite a bit. This is where Ghana's highest mountains are and it is so different from the costal area we live in. It was just beautiful and we enjoyed seeing the different sights. This is going to be a lot of pictures but there is too much beauty to not share it. Just on the other side of Accra you start realizing you are entering a different world. Everything is more agriculture/farming. Adomi Bridge, we were hoping to get to this area much earlier in the day but traffic was terrible and it was very late till we got to the place we were spending the night. I stumbled across Tagbo Falls Lodge online, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect spot. Its Been a While!

I have no excuses except maybe forgetfulness? Mixed up priorities? Emotionally tired? At any rate it has been far too long and I have decided to do better! Since it has been so long, we are going to look back in that order.  We just hosted a group from Maryland and had VBS in Assomdree. It was extra special since this church started as an outreach church from our church. And our good friends were chaperones. Our children were very happy that the group included a few children.  Riding tricycles, Kenny needed to do some explaining and bartering since we needed 5 tricycles to all end up at the same place and most people didn't know where we were going. Atonkwa VBS

We were privileged to have this group of men and women come to help with VBS. (The three Palm Ministries teachers are also on this picture) Sometimes before a group comes we sigh just a bit. There are so many unknowns. Will they enjoy their trip? Will they want to get out and experience as much as possible or will they have a more laid back and relaxed approach to their trip? Will they want to eat every kind of food they can or will they miss American foods? But then they arrive and we enjoy the new faces and fresh enthusiasm. We feel revived and blessed as we watch their wonder at things that have become normal. This group challenged me with their friendliness and love they poured into all the people they came in contact with. This picture is taken at the fort that overlooks Elmina. The Dutch built it to protect the castle and for the soldiers to stay at. Kaylene and I work together for meals and things when the group is in our area.
