Boys Will Be Boys!

Maybe you thought you have seen all the graduation pictures!
Well you have seen the important ones!
But I am so grateful for Jeremy Weaver taking pictures and I love this row of snapshots, I had to share them! 

When boys get bored while waiting for the excitement to start!

They had obviously done this before!

But not while Mom was watching!

I had visions of broken legs and bleeding heads.

I'm not sure how this would have ended, but knowing the resourcefullness of boys, they would have survived!

But I wasn't taking any chances!


I was going to put these on my last blog and forgot. I spent several hours puzzling over how to write an attachment letter. All I can say is, just sit down and do it! The students were very pleased with them!

Volta Region

 We visited Volta Region in May. Volta region is in Eastern Ghana, next to Togo. We could see mountain ridges that were in Togo quite a bit. This is where Ghana's highest mountains are and it is so different from the costal area we live in. It was just beautiful and we enjoyed seeing the different sights. This is going to be a lot of pictures but there is too much beauty to not share it. Just on the other side of Accra you start realizing you are entering a different world. Everything is more agriculture/farming. Adomi Bridge, we were hoping to get to this area much earlier in the day but traffic was terrible and it was very late till we got to the place we were spending the night. I stumbled across Tagbo Falls Lodge online, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect spot. Its Been a While!

I have no excuses except maybe forgetfulness? Mixed up priorities? Emotionally tired? At any rate it has been far too long and I have decided to do better! Since it has been so long, we are going to look back in that order.  We just hosted a group from Maryland and had VBS in Assomdree. It was extra special since this church started as an outreach church from our church. And our good friends were chaperones. Our children were very happy that the group included a few children.  Riding tricycles, Kenny needed to do some explaining and bartering since we needed 5 tricycles to all end up at the same place and most people didn't know where we were going. Group picture, even though they were our largest group we ever hosted, things went very well! Our church got a few inches of water in it the other week. And The water slowly drained through the church yard leaving it swampy all the time in rainy season. The men dug the drainage ditch out more so the water drains on the opposite sid...

When are you moving home?

 One of the most frequent questions we got this time on furlough is, "When are you moving home?"   Hopefully, we didn't offend anyone in our responses to this question. We got a bit weary of it because we don't know. We don't have any good answers to tell people. I'm going to be very honest about our feelings and hopefully you can understand where I'm coming from on this question.   One of the main concerns people talked about is our children. Do they like it in Ghana? Each of them has a part of them that wants to be in the US with family and friends and live the American dream. But each of them also loves Ghana. Both boys have lived in Ghana longer then in the US. They are more comfortable in their slippers (any sort of flip flop or sandal) then in shoes. And actually love best when their feet are stained reddish brown with African dirt. The point is, this is their home.
