Retreat and Recharge!

As I said last time, we went on a little vacation. We went to Ahunta Lodge. It was hard to take a picture of the actual place because they have everything so beautifully landscaped. The walls were actually dirt with a clear coat on them on the inside. We had a big spacious room with room for all the children which was great. Of course we each had our own personal mosquito nets. Usually when we are away for a night the children don't sleep the best, but in this case the waves and sun made them tired and everyone slept like rocks!

We had a nice corner room with floor to ceiling windows. Even though the electric was off for several hours one night, it rained and we were slightly chilly.

There was a little dock/deck built out over the water It was a beautiful place to relax!

It is impossible to show the size of these huge trees The local name is Wawa tree, some people call them cotton trees. There were two of them towering above the lodge.

Between the roots they had made a cute outdoor shower to rinse off at. Austin loved showering "in a tree"!

Every where was beautiful gardens and exotic plants Friday night they had a bonfire and marshmallows, just for us Because of the virus, buisness is slow. We had the place to ourselves the first half of our stay and then one couple came.

There is a fishing village right there and we could watch the boats come in in the morning and leave again in the evening.

The reason we went to Ahunta is because the man that owns it gives surfing lessons and rents surfing equipment. The children loved the beach because it was very flat. The beaches in Cape Coast are very steep with very rough waves. Here they actually enjoyed the waves. The sand was very fine and soft and was lots of fun to dig in.

Both Kenny and Jarell managed the first steps of surfing easily. And both of them were surprised how tiring it was. Waves can be rather unforgiving!

We had just been given these inter-tubes and they were perfect for the children. Brent figured out how to catch a ride with a wave and float up to shore.

The big tree at the far right is the one that had a shower at the bottom.
And of course we had good food! We had to ask her to hold the spices for the children but they did a wonderful job! One meal was rice balls with ground nut soup and chicken

And one night we had a feast! Shrimp, fried rice and grilled veggies.

It was wonderful to have time away from the daily grind. Kenny was quite sure everyone knew we had went since he got several phone calls from people that needed him. Someone needed a tire, someone wrecked a moto. Thankfully Earl Shirks live next door to the shop and since he has a key, he could help the people with urgent needs.
Kenny is back at school again. Things have been going well there. Since Kelsey is out of school we are tackling some house cleaning and sewing. All her dresses are getting shorter! This morning I cut one for her and she worked at sewing it together. I don't know if she will do quite all of it but it has been going really well!
People are really relaxing about the virus here. They very much watch what is happening in the US and Europe and follow their lead. So they just opened up some public gatherings but everyone must wear a mask at all times and it is supposed to be under 1 hour. Because of the long list of requirements our church isn't going to open this Sunday. Other than that, life continues as normal.
