June

June is like every month and flies by. I was afraid it would drag with things being extra quiet around here but life in Ghana is never actually dull. Next week is July already! Here, in no particular order, is a little bit of our lives this month. Jarell cooking on the coal pot. Our sun rises have been beautiful! Very typical before bed activities. Brent learned to do puzzles and although he works hard to do it, he does this one over and over again. We replanted again, but the garden is growing this time! I love fresh little plants! Another gorgeous sunrise! We have some empty mission houses right now. One day Kenny decided he could haul the small recliner from the one to our house and enjoy it until it is needed elsewhere. He told me he is going to use his moto to haul it. And I said he couldn't. So...... he did! Our favorite meal! Fried rice with cooked chicken, cabbage, onions, and carrots. One easy meal in one pan! I rarely bake, but one day Austin and I made cupcakes. He loves

Purpose or Passion

The past few weeks I started noticing a theme in things I was reading and conversations Kenny and I were having. When that happens, I usually know God is trying to get my attention. Or He wants me to consider something.   A while ago, as Kenny started thinking about where the school is headed and what direction he should steer it in, he realized he needs to learn how to be an administer. As he hired three teachers and started a year with more students, he knew he needs to be a leader and lead well. Thankfully he has a brother in law in a management position. He was able to point Kenny in the right direction and give him things to think about. Around this same time Kenny stopped at a local book store and found some books on leadership. Since then, many of that type of book has made it's way into our house. I just finished one this week and was left asking the same question Kenny and I had talked about.   What is my passion? And what is my purpose? I always figured God would give

Retreat and Recharge!

As I said last time, we went on a little vacation. We went to Ahunta Lodge. It was hard to take a picture of the actual place because they have everything so beautifully landscaped. The walls were actually dirt with a clear coat on them on the inside. We had a big spacious room with room for all the children which was great. Of course we each had our own personal mosquito nets. Usually when we are away for a night the children don't sleep the best, but in this case the waves and sun made them tired and everyone slept like rocks! We had a nice corner room with floor to ceiling windows. Even though the electric was off for several hours one night, it rained and we were slightly chilly. There was a little dock/deck built out over the water It was a beautiful place to relax! It is impossible to show the size of these huge trees The local name is Wawa tree, some people call them cotton trees. There were two of them towering above the lodge. Between the roots they had made a cute outdo

May Days

One Sunday morning the children got up early and were outside taking pictures of the sunrise. It was a beautiful morning! May 15th found us saying good bye to Jethro and Amber Martin, Joel and Marcie Burkholder, and Trevor Oberholtzer. I don't think it has sank in yet that they won't be coming back but we wish them all the best in their next adventures in life. Things are very quiet now. We had had work crews and visitors and now it is just a few people around. We look forward to the day when the border opens and the new families can come! The sadness of them leaving was helped a little by the exciting arrival of this little boy! Patricia has been helping me two days a week for the past several months and we were looking forward to her baby's arrival. Galyn went with me to give them a ride home from the hospital. A week later we went for a naming ceremony. The children all loved his soft curls. He is so cuddly! Daniel and Patricia with Eleazor Della The last week of May Ken
