Glimpses

It rained a little the one day. The children were sure they were cold and needed to wrap up in blankets.

February has been busy and I haven't had much time to write. But many things have been happening. Jarell Zimmerman moved in with us the end of January. Someone asked recently if we are adjusted. I don't know exactly how to answer that. But I think so. He fits into our family well. Kenny really enjoys having him help in the shop and to discuss issues with evenings. They have many things in common and work together well.
Jarell brought his skateboard along. The boys were happy to try it out.

A work crew was here the beginning of February to work on the house at Asomdwee. We didn't have a lot to do with them but we enjoyed learning to know them a bit. We hosted a supper at the shop for all the missionaries in the area one Sunday night while they were here. Earl Shirks had family visiting, another mission had a work crew as well,so it was quite the crowd. We served between 70 and 80 people. Earl roasted two pigs and Mama Justina made rice so getting food together was actually very easy.
One Sunday evening we enjoyed hamburgers, hot dogs, and tuna on the beach. Jethro's family was here and supplied the burgers and hot dogs. It was a beautiful evening of catching up with everyone. The next week was filled with twists and turns! The mission offices, and the mission family that lives in the house adjoining it were robbed Monday night. We thank God for his protecting hand over the mission family.
Friday of that week we went to clean Merlin and Bethany Ramer's house. It was very dusty from not being lived in for several months. We had been keeping an eye on it but sometime in the two weeks prior their freezer quit. With the temperatures we have been having, I don't need to go into detail what their freezer was like! Then we went to clean their bedroom and found a dead cat on the floor. How it got there will forever be a mystery. I don't gag easily but that day was an exception! We were so glad we had went several days before they arrived and could have it smelling reasonably sweet till they arrived.

Sunday morning I woke to a text message from another missionary. Someone tried breaking into their house early in the morning. They heard noises and when they went to check it out they ran away. Once again we thanked God for his protecting hand! Although the one robbery was well thought out and planned because it is a business and the other one was just a random break in, it still puts everyone here on edge. Pray that we would not fear and that things could be settled in a way that everyone involved can have peace of mind.
This week brought Merlin and Bethany and sweet baby Sofia back for almost three weeks. They need to finish some things here and pack their things. Our prayer is that Sofia remains healthy while they are here and they could have an enjoyable stay. Two men also came with them to help with some projects at the press.
One Saturday afternoon we escaped the heat and our work and relaxed at a pool at a nearby resort for several hours. I think the children would live there!

Thursday we picked up Kenny's parents at the airport. We have looked forward to that day for awhile! Kenny had off school Friday for Independence day. We tried to fit as much into our three day weekend as we could. We visited the palm press, the swinging bridges, and did our normal shopping at market. The list of things to do while Grandpa and Grandma are here is still long so we will see how it goes. Friday we take them and Merlins to the airport.

The new house! A crew flew home today. They did almost all the painting. Another one comes tomorrow to do the electrical work.

Mom Zeiset hanging out wash. She learned out how to wash by hand. And decided she is thankful for her washer! We had a wheel line before but my heavy wet wash broke the pole. We decided to do it this way. Then I can bring things in as they dry too.
