Just A Glimpse

Life is settling into a bit of a routine right now. Full, happy days but I am feeling like I can actually reach around. I even sewed a dress this past week. It was high time! The day before school started we took an hour before sunset to go to the beach. It was a beautiful evening

The children have lost interest in us to some extent but we still have a few come to play occasionally. These boys are playing a version of tic-tac-toe.

Austin and I went for a walk behind our house. We keep taking pictures of this termite mound. It will be interesting to see how big the boy and the termite mound grow.

The boys love riding bike at the shop!


More beach pictures! This is at a restaurant while waiting for food.

The harmattan is back! If you look closely you can see the sun right at the curving palm branch in almost the center of the picture. My floors show the dust and our black leather sofa's do as well. I think I becoming immune to dust!

Yesterday we walked to church. I should have waited to get this boy dressed! The roads are quite thick with dust and he tripped and did a belly flop in the middle of it!

There are visitors from the US here right now and we had a hamburger and hot dog supper at the beach last night. It was a beautiful evening!

I still haven't got any pictures of Kenny's class. It is taking awhile for 8 students to settle into a routine but it is going very well! Kenny is so thankful for his fellow teachers! He still carries a lot of the stress but doesn't need to put in as many hours as he did last year. Thanks for all your prayers for them! Truly this is God's school!

      This phrase is used when thinking of how we view heaven. But lately we have been discussing events in the US and how the people in Ghana view them and this phrase comes to mind.    I don't think we will ever understand how our country of origin affects the world at large. When are you moving home?

 One of the most frequent questions we got this time on furlough is, "When are you moving home?"   Hopefully, we didn't offend anyone in our responses to this question. We got a bit weary of it because we don't know. We don't have any good answers to tell people. I'm going to be very honest about our feelings and hopefully you can understand where I'm coming from on this question.   One of the main concerns people talked about is our children. Do they like it in Ghana? Each of them has a part of them that wants to be in the US with family and friends and live the American dream. But each of them also loves Ghana. Both boys have lived in Ghana longer then in the US. They are more comfortable in their slippers (any sort of flip flop or sandal) then in shoes. And actually love best when their feet are stained reddish brown with African dirt. The point is, this is their home. While our friends and family in the US enjoyed snow and cold, we enjoyed a more relaxed schedule and tried to stay cool.  A turkey showing off in the middle of the road.  A Saturday afternoon swim.  On the way to Accra one day. The huge loads never cease to amaze us.  We picked up new mottos for the facilitators from SALT. Typical Ghana style, everyone knew how to load them. Kenny knew what he wanted but stood back and let them try their way. Finally loaded and ready to go.  It was a beautiful evening to ride home.  We spent an evening at Hans Cottage. We were finalizing details for our missionary retreat there the end of February. Kelsey caught this fish. Her brothers were quite proud of her! I spent quite a bit of time painting in January. It was high time for a fresh look!
