New Hope Shop

The front of the shop. The project today is the school bus Living Hope uses to haul about 180 students on. Yesterday it broke down and in the process of getting it going they discovered the back brakes were barely working. So today Kenny is trying to get them fixed. The bus was shipped over from the US so finding parts is a real challenge here,
New Hope was started as a school to teach young men how to do basic mechanics. And of course along with that teach them Biblical principles as well. The school will be starting in March again hopefully.
The side of the shop.
The back of the shop.
The back of the shop from farther away. And of course two boys on their way to see daddy.
The office.
The bus backed in over the pit.
There are always an over abundance of moto bikes to work on.

The shop needs some organizing before school can start. Right now they are trying to keep up with maintenance on the mission vehicles.

There is a bathroom with two toilets and two showers in the back corner.
Above the office there is a loft with tables and chairs that will be the classroom.

                                                              The parts room.
                                                              Coconut trees outside.

There are some old vehicles sitting around rusting from the sea breeze. The shop is just across the salt flats from the ocean so there is normally a nice breeze. Don't you just love the flowers?

Our pick up parked across the drive from the shop. Don't you love our ride? I think we will be happy for it in the rainy season.

The compound where the shop is located is Living Hope Academy. There is an orphanage with a boys dorm and a girls dorm as well. The picture above is the main school, and below is the school for the little folks. They start school at 2 or 3 and there are some adorable toddlers come from this school with their little backpacks.

Just over from the shop is a building that holds a storage room (where Merlin's started, and now we help with a Bible study every Thursday afternoon) Next to it is a little store for the students to buy things. Treats and school supplies. And then is an open eating area where they feed the students luch each day. Behind it is a kitchen where about three ladies cook. Today they were making banku and fish.
Wash bowls on the porch of the canteen.
The tables and benches get set up when it is time to eat.
And of course the boys love to be at the shop. It doesn't work the best so they don't do it real often. They were tickled to find a little car and a trike here. They are bringing a trike seat along next week and then it should be good to go.
